Publish to Web and in-browser viewing for Digital Web Books
_______________________________
Easy to publish, easy to read
Sydney, Australia - August 2003 – DNAml PTY LIMITED (DNAml) - DNAml continues to lead innovation in the field of electronic publishing with the release of the Publish to Web and in-browser viewing features for Digital Web Books.
Publish to Web
This feature enables publishers to upload Digital Web Books to a server for in-browser viewing, using a simple upload manager inside the DeskTop Author software package.
In-browser viewing
In-browser viewing enables Digital Web Books to be viewed within Internet Explorer (4.1 and above) or Netscape (4x and above). Digital Web Books may also be “detached” from the browser for stand-alone viewing and/or saved to a users PC. A right mouse click on the Digital Web Book accesses a menu from which these additional features may be selected.
An example of an in-browser Digital Web Book may be viewed on the following link – http://desktopauthor.com/sample_web.asp
What are Digital Web Books?
The inexpensive and easy-to-use DeskTop Author package produces electronic publications of small file size that may be easily emailed, viewed within a browser, made downloadable from a website or distributed on CD (or floppy disk).
Digital Web Books are packaged either as .EXE files, that can be viewed on PCs (Windows 98-XP) without a reader, or as .DNL files, that require the installation of a small reader.
The DNL Reader may either be installed using a stand-alone download or via a browser. With the latter the installation process is simplified as the browser detects whether the machine has the Reader and if not, prompts the user to install (the stand-alone installation file may be downloaded from the following link – www.digitalwebbooks.com/reader).
Users viewing Digital Web Books, navigate between pages rather like a physical book, using a simple point and click method. Index links enable quick access to others pages within the documents, while links to email and to websites, encourage further viewer interactivity.
How easy is it to create Digital Web Books?
Zero programming experience is assumed and authors with little PC experience and can get started quickly with in-built templates and buttons. Fast production of professional looking ePublications is assisted by intuitive editing tools within the software. In addition to extensive help resources within the package, users can further rely on technical support via email.
The following tutorials may be downloaded in DWB format:
Any type of ePublication can be created to suit requirements – online photo albums, eBooks, eBrochures, ePresentations, quizzes, online resumes, digital diaries, eCards, digital catalogues, corporate profiles, manuals and more….
